Day 19 / Jour 19 Lusignan

I left Poitiers this morning, heading toward Lusignan.

The scenery was beautiful, though I didn’t pass through many towns along the way.

I did, however, get to see the Abbey Church of the Augustinian Friars and the small Church of Notre-Dame in Coulombiers.

In the forest near Lusignan, I came across a group of people gathering leaves—they were harvesting wild garlic.

In Lusignan, near my accommodation for the night, I found a Khachkar, a traditional Armenian stone cross. This monument was a gift from the Armenian people to the city of Lusignan in honor of Leo V of Lusignan, the last king of Armenia. The city displays it as a tribute to the victims of the Armenian Genocide of 1915.

J’ai quitté Poitiers ce matin en direction de Lusignan.

Le paysage était magnifique, même si je n’ai pas traversé beaucoup de villes.

J’ai tout de même pu voir l’église abbatiale des Frères Augustins ainsi que la petite église Notre-Dame à Coulombiers.

Dans la forêt près de Lusignan, j’ai croisé un groupe de personnes en train de ramasser des feuilles—ils récoltaient de l’ail des ours.

À Lusignan, près de mon hébergement pour la nuit, j’ai découvert un Khachkar, une croix de pierre arménienne traditionnelle. Ce monument a été offert par le peuple arménien à la ville de Lusignan en hommage à Léon V de Lusignan, le dernier roi d’Arménie. La ville l’expose en mémoire des victimes du génocide arménien de 1915.
