Day 59 / Jour 59 Rabanal del Camino

Today’s walk was pleasant. I’ve been walking around 900 meters above sea level so far, but I gained a bit more elevation today. The weather was great, and I really appreciated the light breeze along the way.

I had lunch in Santa Catalina de Somoza.

My shoes are starting to show signs of wear, but with the finish line getting closer, they’ll have to hold out a bit longer!

Tomorrow, the first 10 km will include a 500-meter climb — I’ll be even higher than when I crossed the Pyrenees.

I’m already starting to think about the end of the journey, as I’m now less than 250 km from Santiago. Maybe just 8 or 9 days left?

I got it this morning ! Lol
Church at Santibáñez de Valdeiglesias
This statue stands at the entrance of San Justo de la Vega. I had the chance to speak with a priest last night who shared an interesting insight: the pilgrim may be near the fountain, yet no water flows from his bottle. This, he explained, symbolizes that the pilgrim doesn’t thirst for water, but for the word of God.
