I had a lovely walk through the countryside to reach the mill where I’ll be spending the night. Along the way, the path led me through Château-Renault, home to the ruins of an old castle.

I was especially happy to receive a letter from my best friend today! It took some careful planning to have it delivered to a town I was passing through while the post office was still open, but it all worked out perfectly.

J’ai fait une belle promenade à travers la campagne pour atteindre le moulin où je passerai la nuit. En chemin, le sentier m’a mené à Château-Renault, où se trouvent les ruines d’un ancien château.

J’étais particulièrement heureux de recevoir une lettre de ma meilleure amie aujourd’hui ! Il a fallu une bonne coordination pour qu’elle soit livrée dans une ville que je traversais tout en s’assurant que la poste soit ouverte, mais tout s’est parfaitement bien déroulé.

I had a wonderful time with my host, who taught me a few things about the area.

Today’s weather was clear—no rain, just a pleasant walk under the sun.

I know my life will be different after this journey, though I’m not sure how yet.

Listening to Andrew Wommack’s preaching has challenged and corrected some of my beliefs as a Christian.

Tonight, I’m staying near Prunay-Cassereau

J’ai passé un merveilleux moment avec mon hôte, qui m’a instruis sur la région.

Le temps était clair aujourd’hui—pas de pluie, juste une agréable promenade sous le soleil.

Je sais que ma vie sera différente après ce voyage, même si je ne sais pas encore comment.

Écouter les prédications d’Andrew Wommack a remis en question et corrigées certaines de mes croyances en tant que chrétien.

Ce soir, je séjourne près de Prunay-Cassereau.

It rained a bit in the morning, but I enjoyed some sunshine by the end of the day.

The walk along the Le Loir River was lovely. Be careful not to confuse « Le Loir » with « La Loire »—Le Loir eventually flows into La Loire.

Trinity Abbey in Vendôme was a Benedictine monastery founded in 1035 by Geoffrey Martel and his first wife, Agnes of Burgundy. According to legend, they chose the site after witnessing three stars fall from the sky into a fountain in the valley.

Il a plu un peu le matin, mais j’ai profité du soleil en fin de journée.

La promenade le long du Loir était agréable. Ne confondez pas « Le Loir » et « La Loire »—Le Loir finit par se jeter dans la Loire.

Today, I walked from Bonneval to Châteaudun. I continue to be amazed by the ancient monuments and the rich history that surrounds me. Once again, I’m staying in someone’s home for the night.

The walk was relatively easy, with the sun shining brightly overhead.

Aujourd’hui, j’ai marché de Bonneval à Châteaudun. Je continue d’être émerveillé par les vieux monuments et la richesse de l’histoire qui m’entoure. Encore une fois, je passe la nuit chez quelqu’un.

La marche était assez facile, avec le soleil brillant au-dessus de moi.

Castle of Châteaudun

I’m still being blessed with amazing weather! Today was a big walk as I made it from Chartres to Bonneval. My Guild found me a private host who’s welcoming pilgrims, and I’m the first one of the season!

Last week at the Guild’s office, I met a writer who’s walking the full route for the third year in a row. His friend, a host in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port (the last stop before crossing into Spain), mentioned that they’re expecting a lot of people mid-April. I’m trying to beat the crowd and get through the Spanish part of the walk before it gets too busy.

I’m pretty exhausted, but everything is going great—except for missing my loved ones.

The path was mostly flat, but there was a lot of road walking, which isn’t the best for the feet!

Je suis toujours béni par le temps, encore une belle journée ! Aujourd’hui, c’était une grande marche car j’ai atteint Bonneval depuis Chartres. Ma Guilde m’a trouvé un hôte privé qui accueille les pèlerins, et je suis le premier de la saison !

La semaine dernière, au bureau des amis de Compostele, j’ai rencontré un écrivain qui marche le chemin complet pour la troisième fois d’affilée. Son ami, un hôte à Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port (le dernier arrêt avant de traverser la frontière avec l’Espagne), m’a dit qu’ils s’attendent à beaucoup de monde mi-avril. J’essaie de les devancer pour éviter la foule sur la partie espagnole du chemin.

Je suis assez fatigué, mais tout se passe bien, à part le fait que ceux que j’aime me manque.

Le chemin était assez plat, mais il y avait beaucoup de route, ce qui n’est pas idéal pour les pieds !

The walk from Épernon to Chartres has been absolutely amazing. The weather is perfect, and I’m still enjoying a clear blue sky, which you can see in the photos I took along the way.

During my journey, I passed several beautiful churches, each one adding to the peaceful atmosphere. For the last 8 kilometers, I followed the path alongside the serene Eure River.

I’ve been listening to Andrew Wommack’s podcast and teaching, and it’s been helping me focus on tuning into God’s voice. This pilgrimage is all about seeking guidance for the next chapter of my life and discerning what God wants me to do moving forward.

La marche d’Épernon à Chartres a été absolument incroyable. Le temps est parfait, et je profite toujours d’un ciel bleu clair, comme vous pourrez le voir sur les photos que j’ai prises en chemin.

Pendant mon voyage, j’ai traversé plusieurs belles églises, chacune ajoutant à l’atmosphère paisible. Sur les 8 derniers kilomètres, j’ai suivi le chemin le long de l’Eure.

J’écouté des podcasts d’Andrew Wommack, et cela m’aide à me concentrer sur l’écoute de la voix de Dieu. Ce pèlerinage est une quête pour chercher la direction de Dieu pour le prochain chapitre de ma vie et discerner ce qu’il souhaite que je fasse dans l’avenir.

It was a beautiful day—bright blue skies and a crisp 17°C breeze. I left the hotel a little later than usual, knowing I had an easy day ahead of me. There was no rush.

To get back on the path, I wandered through the Castle Park once again, taking a few more photos of the stunning scenery. I am getting better at following the trail markers !

Tonight, I’m staying at the Priory of St. Thomas in Epernon, built over 10 centuries ago. Épernon is a lovely medieval town, and its cobblestones and stones were used in many places, especially in Paris for the Haussmannian renovations.

I had to walk a bit to get to a big mall as the power bank I bought before leaving does not like the cable and power adapter I had ! Ah ah. But with the easy day today it was ok

Belle journée – ciel bleu et 17°C. Je suis parti de l’hôtel un peu plus tard que d’habitude, sachant que j’avais une journée facile devant moi. Pour reprendre mon chemin, je suis repassé par le parc du château et j’ai pris quelques photos supplémentaires. Je m’améliore dans le suivi des indications du sentier !

Ce soir, je dors au prieuré Saint-Thomas à Épernon, construit il y a plus de 10 siècles. Épernon est une jolie ville médiévale, ses pierres ont été utilisés dans de nombreux endroits, notamment à Paris pour les travaux haussmanniens.

J’ai dû marcher un peu pour atteindre un hyper U. 4km A/R. On ne s en rend pas compte mais les grands commerce sont a l exterrieur des villes ! La batterie externe que j’avais achetée avant de partir n’appréciait pas le câble et l’adaptateur que j’avais ! Ah ah. Mais avec la journée facile d’aujourd’hui, c’était pas un problème.

Last night, someone came to close the church. I shared my situation with them and was offered a spot at an upcoming Airbnb. It had a warm bed and a kitchen. While there wasn’t hot water for the shower, the bed was definitely a big relief.

The Rambouillet National Forest was incredibly muddy, and I got lost a few times. After doing some research, I found that the path I’m taking isn’t well-marked. It’s fairly new and doesn’t have many pilgrims.

Accommodation has been a challenge since there aren’t many pilgrims on this route. I’ve contacted the guild and am waiting for assistance with lodging for the next few nights.

Tonight, I’ll be staying in a hotel, but it’s twice the cost of my usual budget for the day. I’m hoping to find a more affordable solution soon.

Rambouillet is a wonderful city, full of history and charm! There’s so much to explore and learn about its past.

Finalement, hier soir, je n’ai pas dormi dans l’église, heureusement car il y faisait vraiment froid. Une personne est venue fermer l’église, je lui ai expliqué ma situation, et elle m’a proposé de me loger dans son Airbnb qui n’est pas encore ouvert au public. Il n’y avait pas de douche chaude, mais le lit était très confortable.

La forêt domaniale de Rambouillet était très boueuse, et je me suis encore perdu plusieurs fois ! Le marquage est un peu incomplet car le chemin est assez récent et il n’y a pas beaucoup de pèlerins.

Trouver un endroit où dormir est un vrai problème à cause du faible nombre de pèlerins, je pense. J’ai contacté l’association des Amis de Compostelle du 28 et j’attends leur réponse.

Ce soir, je dors à l’hôtel, mais cela représente deux fois mon budget quotidien pour une seule nuit. J’espère trouver une solution rapidement.

Cela dit, Rambouillet est une très belle ville pleine d’histoire.

When i was lost i checked my map and i forgot to pay attention to the curvy elevation lign. Sometimes the shorter way is not the quickest lol

Tonight the place i wanted to got to is closed and the next step is 26km away. The churche of Dampierre-en-Yvelines is open 24/7. I’ll sleep there.

Je me suis perdu plusieur fois. Et j avoue avoir perdu pas mal de temps a regarder ma carte. Mais je m’habitue au sign du chemin de compostel et ca devrait aller mieux.

Lorsque j’étais perdu et avec ma carte en main pour rattraper le chemin j ai oublié de faire attention aux lignes de dénivelés. Grosse erreur ! Lol

Sinon le paysage et majesteux surtout avec ce soleil.

A Dampierre-en-Yvelines le gite est fermé. Prochaine etap c’est Rambouillet et c’est a 26km. L’église semble rester ouverte tout le temps alors je vais y dormir.
